William Roerick

William Roerick was an American actor, stage manager, and writer. Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, he was a classically trained actor who graduated from Hamilton College in 1934 and attended the Stockbridge Playhouse drama school. He made his Broadway debut in 1935 in Romeo and Juliet and worked on Broadway for forty-five years, ending with Happy New Year in 1980. Though his career centered on the stage, he appeared in films such as The Wasp Woman (1959) and Not of This Earth (1957), two Roger Corman science fiction thrillers he especially liked, plus The Day of the Dolphin (1973), The Other Side of the Mountain (1975), 92 in the Shade (1975), God Told Me To (1976), and A Lovely Way to Die (1968). On television, he played Henry Chamberlain in Guiding Light from 1980 to 1995 and received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1991. He also wrote The Happiest Years with Thomas Coley, which reached Broadway in 1949.
