Plot summary
Jared Martin moves in next door to the Hansetts with a motorcycle and an ill-tempered dog. The neighborhood warms to him; Loren Hansett does not. When people nearby begin to vanish, she keeps watch on his nocturnal comings and goings, and what she reads convinces her that a werewolf is behind the disappearances. Her friend Steven listens to her; everyone else calls it a teenager's fantasy. Jared is watching Loren just as closely, because she reminds him of his late wife, Melissa. With a full moon coming, Loren turns for help to Redd Tucker, a television hunting host who knows how to hunt and who takes her werewolf theory seriously.
