Plot summary
In the winter of 1846, a group of pioneers on their way to California takes a newly discovered mountain pass and runs into the worst blizzard on record. Trapped with almost no food or shelter, they spend months in the snow, and hunger and madness set them against one another. Six friends then arrive at an isolated cabin on a mountain for a weekend in the snow. A storm cuts them off and leaves them stranded, and it raises the ghosts of the Donner Party around them. The friends cannot tell whether true demonic entities are among them or whether fear and paranoia are wearing them down until they turn on each other.
