Mystery 101: Dead Talk (2019) on Netflix

Plot summary

Amy Winslow, a crime fiction specialist who chairs the literature department at Elmstead College, comes to Seattle with her father, Graham Winslow, to speak at a Teachable Talks conference run by its founder, Tim Bishop, her former boyfriend. Garrison police detective Travis Burke, uneasy about that history, takes an invitation from Graham and attends. Another speaker, tech executive Mitchell McHale, is presenting SLOOTH, software built to solve crimes rather than help detectives, and his wife Alexis McHale, his company's COO Billy Poole and investor Vicky Lin are on hand for it. A body lies below the roof of the venue, arranged to look like a suicide. The Seattle officer leading the inquiry is Lt. Rachel Knox, a police academy classmate of Travis whom he once dated.
