Plot summary
William Griffith Wilson, known as Bill W., works as a stockbroker and served in the First World War. Drink turns into a serious addiction, and the market crash of 1929 wipes out his fortune. His career and his home life are in ruins. Robert Holbrook Smith, a doctor with a drinking problem of his own, meets Wilson, and the two men found a support group that becomes the seed of Alcoholics Anonymous.
