Plot summary
Casey Meadows washes dishes at an upscale restaurant in Los Angeles. A hand-delivered letter offers her work driving for Brentwood Limousine Service. The manager, McBride, is appalled that Mr. Witherspoon, the company owner, personally picked her, and that she is a woman in an all-male establishment. He hires her reluctantly and tells her that any misstep will cost her the job, and the other drivers, most of them older men, treat her with hostility. Jeremy O'Brien, an older Irish driver, supports her and persuades her to stay.
