Plot summary
José reaches a pavilion on the edge of Madrid through an employment agency and joins the hundreds of people hired to fill the audience of a New Year's Eve broadcast recorded four months early. He is filling in for an extra who died in a crane accident during a rehearsal, and he has left his mother Dolores at home alone. Take follows take, with the crowd clapping for musical numbers it cannot see and greeting a new year that has not come. At his table among the extras is Paloma, who interests him. Backstage, the veteran crooner Alphonso refuses to be outdone by Adanne, the young Latin pop sensation, while the hosts Roberto and Cristina, a couple at odds, each try to win over the producer Benítez.
