Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus (2013)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Gaby Hoffmann was actually on real psychedelics while shooting the scene of her character, Crystal Fairy, tripping. She said her first dose was weak so she took a second one, and that she could step in and out of the experience while making the movie.
- The script was only an outline, with every scene built around a moment that leads the actors to the next place, and the cast did no rehearsals in character. Because the boys had already been living together when Gaby Hoffmann arrived, her role as the outsider was easier to slip into.
- Gaby Hoffmann got only a brief character description from Sebastián Silva in a phone call about a week before she left for Chile. Hoffmann recalls that all he said was, "Go buy some books about 2012 and get on the plane."
