Plot summary
Georgia Olsen learns on Christmas Eve that she is pregnant, and she decides not to tell her parents. She goes with her boyfriend Sam Hoth to a college Christmas party, where an android turns violent and smartphones explode, beginning an AI takeover. Nine months later, Georgia is close to giving birth and sheltering in the woods with Sam. They avoid the roads as they try to reach Boston, fortified against the androids, and they have heard that a boat carries new mothers to Asia. A military camp takes them in, but when Sam asks a soldier how to reach Boston, the soldier sets a fight as the price. Georgia finds Sam held prisoner the next day, and the camp expels them both.

- Writer-director Mattson Tomlin loosely based the story on his own adoption, calling it a personal love letter to his biological parents. Born in the aftermath of the Romanian revolution, he said he swapped that for a robot revolution to add a genre element.
