Plot summary
Long ago the June bug Mr. Zoomzeman lost his birch tree when a boss seized it, and the Night Fairy banished the tree to the Moon, telling him it could be restored if an animal-loving human came with him. The chance arrives years later: Zoomzeman turns up at the home of Peter, a boy who loves space, and his sister Annabelle. The journey to the Moon separates the children. Peter meets the Sandman, while Annabelle is forced to work for the Moonman. To find her, Peter and his companions travel to the Night Fairy's palace in the clouds, where a seat at her dinner is the only way to learn where Annabelle is, and there are not enough seats for everyone.
