Plot summary
The new owner of a badly neglected olive farm in Provence, in the south of France, Hank Dussard is determined to make it operational again. Father Sylvain, the village priest, and Maria Riserau, a neighbor, advise him against the attempt. Desperate for laborers, Hank turns to four mischievous chimpanzees that had once been part of an Air Force space team and puts them to work as olive pickers. The intelligent animals learn their new tasks quickly, and the local townspeople find their presence turbulent; the other workers are upset that chimpanzees are doing the picking.
