Plot summary
Seymour Moskowitz works in a parking lot and has recently come to Los Angeles from New York City. Minnie Moore, a museum curator, is seeing a married man named Jim, and their arguments have left her doubtful about love. She and her co-worker Florence talk about growing older and whether the right man will ever appear. Florence arranges a blind date with Zelmo, a bitter widower whose loud behavior spoils the evening; he chases Minnie out of the restaurant. Seymour, on duty in the lot, sees the commotion and fights Zelmo, who drives off with a bloody face, leaving Minnie without a ride. Seymour offers her one, she refuses, so he follows in his truck and insists. He takes her to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
