Plot summary
Grace Pine works as a music critic at the Toronto alt-weekly Merge Weekly. She moves to Montreal to work on a book about Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill and rents a Mile End apartment with roommate Madeleine, a DJ whose boyfriend Hugo Côté drums for Bone Patrol. Grace pitches the book to New York editor Phoebe Reilly and lands a deal with a $500 advance. On her first night, Madeleine invites her to a loft party, where she meets Archie Webber, Bone Patrol's guitarist, and watches the band play, drawn to lead singer Chevy Olsen.
