Plot summary
Jonas Ford works on his family's cattle ranch in the Great Lakes region, and Casey Caraway and her father Wayne become his neighbors when they move in next door. Casey's dog Blaze brings the two teenagers together, and Jonas and Casey begin to fall for each other, but Wayne, a police sergeant, tries to stop the romance. After Jonas witnesses Wayne strike Casey, the two fight and Wayne threatens Jonas's life. Jonas asks the Chief and his own father for help protecting Casey, and neither offers any. With no help from either, Jonas settles on a plan to run away with Casey.
