Plot summary
From 1904 to 1911, Maria Skłodowska-Curie lives in France, where she works as a physicist with her husband Pierre Curie. Radium, the element the two of them discovered, is at the center of her research, and their work points toward treating cancer with radioactivity. The couple have two daughters, Irène and Ève, and Maria gives birth to the second of them during these years. In 1905 she travels with Pierre to Stockholm to receive the Nobel Prize for the discovery of radioactivity. The French scientific world around her is dominated by men, and she challenges it as a scientist and as a woman.
