Plot summary
The story of María Solinha, tried for witchcraft and burned in the seventeenth century, is rebuilt on a stage in Cangas do Morrazo, in Galicia, by a visiting director. The staging draws on a legend from Redondela about a dragon that carried young women into the waters of the Ria, under the bridge to the island of San Simon, until the town's sailors rose against it. By that account the dragon wore the shape of an animal long ago, of the Inquisitor in the seventeenth century, and now attacks women in crowds. The actress at the center of the production meets the same aggression in her own time.
