Plot summary
Eight people hoping to change their lives sign up for a personal improvement seminar held in a Spanish castle. Their teacher is a decadent novelist, and the woman with him is his partner. The participants include a broker who takes pills, an aspiring filmmaker who works as a detective, a young architect with no job, and the head of a supermarket chain. The castle's owners add two more to the group, a macho sports television presenter and his modest wife, who is nearly forty and set on becoming a mother. Because the seminar draws fewer people than planned, the guests get to know one another fast, and the conversations bring out each person's individuality.
