Plot summary
Niccolo "Mac" Vitelli is the oldest of three brothers in 1950s Queens. Their father, who worked in construction, has died, and Mac, who learned the trade from him, becomes the head of the family. He gets his younger brothers Vico and Bruno onto construction jobs. The three of them work for Polowski, a boss who is abusive to his staff and whose jobs are done poorly. They can no longer take working for him.
