Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Love Happy (1949)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Love Happy ran out of money near the end of shooting, so the producers sold paid advertising to several companies to finish it, which is why the rooftop chase is staged among billboards and signs, a rarity at the time.
- Love Happy was first planned as a solo vehicle for Harpo, titled Diamonds in the Sidewalk; when Chico, usually short of money because of his lifelong gambling addiction, joined, backers would finance it only if all three Marx Brothers appeared, so Groucho agreed to take part.
- Groucho Marx drops his trademark greasepaint mustache and eyebrows in this film, by which point he had grown a real mustache and no longer considered the makeup necessary.
- Chico Marx performs "Gypsy Love Song" as a duet with actor-musician Leon Belasco, playing Mr. Lyons, the same song Chico had played 20 years earlier in the Marx Brothers' first film, The Cocoanuts.
