Plot summary
Nikki Angioli grew up in Toronto's Little Italy, where her father Sal and Leo's father Vince once ran a pizzeria together. A pizza competition win set the two men against each other; they ended the partnership and opened rival restaurants side by side, and the reason for their quarrel has stayed a secret. Nikki moved to London, where she studies under chef Corinne and competes with a fellow student for a post at Corinne's new restaurant. A visa problem sends her back to Toronto for two weeks. Leo is still there, tending bar and working in his father's kitchen, and the two meet again at the bar.
