Little Amélie or the Character of Rain (2025) on Netflix

Plot summary

For her first years Amélie does not move, and in that stillness she decides she is a god to the family around her in Kobe, Japan. An earthquake on her second birthday ends the stillness, and she begins to move freely. She grows frustrated with her parents and pushes them away, so her father Patrick looks for a nanny. Kashima-san, the landlady, suggests Nishio-san, who arrives as the grandmother Claude comes to stay. White chocolate from Claude quiets Amélie, and she begins to accept the family, though not her older brother André. Her first word is "vacuum cleaner". After Claude goes back to Belgium, Nishio-san finds the child and reads her a book about yōkai, the beginning of a friendship that bothers Kashima-san.
