Plot summary
Yakari is a young Sioux boy who can speak with all animals, a gift from his totem, the Great Eagle. His tribe is getting ready to move on in search of the migrating bison when he leaves the safety of the village and heads into open country to find Little Thunder, the legendary mustang that people say cannot be tamed; he wants the horse's friendship. The trail carries him far from home, across the plains and mountains of the continent, and into the land of the puma-skin hunters. Great Eagle visits him on the way, giving him a feather of bravery and the ability to talk with the animals. His problem is how to get back to his people.
