Plot summary
Akiko is a sociology student in Tokyo who works at night as a high-end prostitute. Noriaki, her boyfriend, is jealous and overbearing, and suspicious although he does not know how she earns her money. One evening her pimp Hiroshi talks her into visiting an important client in Yokohama, on a night when she must study for an exam the next morning and her grandmother has arrived in Tokyo for a single day. In the taxi she listens to messages from the elderly woman, who has waited at the station all day, and she asks the driver to circle the square past her twice. The client, Takashi, is a retired university professor who prefers to cook her supper and talk. In the morning he drives her to her exam.
