Le poulpe (1998) on Netflix

Plot summary

Gabriel Lecouvreur is a private investigator known as le Poulpe, a nickname that comes from his long arms. He takes cases for his own amusement and travels to Angerneau, a port town in the Loire Valley, with Cheryl, who was summoned by the police after a relative's grave was defaced. Angerneau is her hometown and she wants to leave it quickly, before she runs into people she knows there. Gabriel has his own business in town: a group of young people wrecked the grave, and he wants back the money that the repairs cost him. He also grows curious about a ship docked in the port and its cargo.
