Plot summary
Samay is nine years old and lives in Chalala, a village in Saurashtra, Gujarat. He goes to a rundown movie place, where he bribes the projectionist, Fazal, to let him watch films from the booth. An entire summer goes by in that booth. He is mesmerized by the films and by filmmaking, and he decides to become a filmmaker. His mother is Ba and his father is Bapuji.

- For Last Film Show's projection-booth scenes, Pan Nalin brought in old celluloid Hindi films and a technician to run the projectors; the film was shot in villages and at a railway station in Saurashtra, Gujarat.
- Last Film Show is semi-autobiographical: director Pan Nalin grew up in Adtala village in Saurashtra, and six boys from local communities in the region were cast in the film.
