Plot summary
Douglas Miller flew Spitfires as an ace through the Battle of Britain, and in 1943 he transfers to RAF Bomber Command. The death of his younger brother has left him angry, and he intends to carry the war to the skies over Germany. His posting gives him a difficult job: an experienced Lancaster crew recently lost the skipper it loved, and Miller takes the dead man's place. Bonding with the men does not come easily, and his hunger to fight at any cost gets in the way. He looks for a way to win their trust and to overcome his inner demons, so that he can be the leader the crew needs.
