Lamya's Poem (2021) on Netflix

Plot summary

Lamya is twelve years old and lives in Aleppo, the city she leaves as a refugee while the Syrian civil war goes on around her. A book of poetry by Rumi comes into her hands, and reading it carries her into a dreamworld where the poet appears to her as a boy named Jalal, a refugee in flight from the violence of his own century. The monsters that pursue Lamya and Jalal in their waking lives pursue them there as well. To help the boy find his calling, she stays with him until the poem he has yet to write takes shape.
