Plot summary
Henry is an established screenwriter in Berlin and Potsdam, at work on an adaptation of a best-selling novel by Katharina, a former girlfriend he is trying to win back. Eight-year-old Magdalena arrives at his house: she is his daughter, conceived during a one-night stand in Stockholm, and her mother has left her with him while she travels to New York. The marriage of Tristan, the man who has raised Magdalena, has broken up over the girl's parentage, and Magdalena still prefers him to the father she has just met. Henry has to look after her while the adaptation goes on. Magdalena, who has never heard of the French dish coq au vin, pronounces it Kokowääh.
