Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The role of Cleo was originally written much larger, but because the actress was found only after the shoot in Thailand, the filmmakers had already decided to shrink it. Early screenplay drafts had Cleo, like Frieder, travelling to Thailand after Cem was rescued.
- The film's main setting is the Andaman Islands, 800 kilometres west of Thailand, but Thailand itself served as the backdrop. Thailand was chosen over candidates such as South Africa, Hawaii and the Caribbean, which were ruled out for financial reasons.
