Plot summary
Adolf Hitler wakes up in a Berlin park where his bunker once stood, disoriented, and wanders a city he reads from a wartime perspective. Taken for an impersonator, he is pepper-sprayed by a young mother and faints when a newspaper tells him the year is 2014. At the MyTV station, executive Christoph Sensenbrink is passed over for a promotion and fires freelance filmmaker Fabian Sawatzki. Reviewing his own footage, Sawatzki spots Hitler in the background, and his mother suggests the man could carry a film. Hitler, meanwhile, wakes at a newspaper kiosk, reads of a changed Germany, and resolves to continue his work, until Sawatzki finds him. Sawatzki proposes filming him for YouTube, and the two travel the country, Hitler talking with ordinary Germans about the social and political issues he notices.

- Oliver Masucci, then 46, thought he was unsuited to play Hitler — he is 1m 88cm, about 10cm taller than Hitler, with a completely different physiognomy — and the casting process had him cold-call the Deutche Opera Berlin pretending to be Hitler to ask for Wagner opera tickets and recite one of Hitler's speeches.
- For the role, Oliver Masucci put on 26kg and a make-up artist gave him a false nose, tear ducts, wrinkles and a false upper lip for the toothbrush moustache, a look that took two hours to apply.
- In his Hitler make-up, Masucci was sent out among the German public accompanied by bodyguards in case he was attacked.
