Plot summary
In April 2015, Brian Reader attends the funeral of his wife Lyn in London, where he meets old friends from his criminal days. Their talk turns to a last job: the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit. Brian and the others meet to plan it. Almost all of them are in their sixties and seventies, and the exception is Basil, a younger man who understands alarm systems and has obtained a key to one of the building's outside doors. The crew chooses the Easter holiday weekend, which gives them the longest stretch to work and the smallest chance of being found out. Dressed as gas repairmen, they get inside, silence the alarms after some trial and error, and start drilling through the wall toward the vault.
