Plot summary
Maddie is a cellist working to recover after a robbery that killed her friend Chad, who died shielding her. A gun misfire in the same robbery left her with hearing loss, and she uses hearing aids. Her best friend Trish, a PhD student in gene editing who is also a social media influencer, treats her to a luxury vacation in Thailand. Trish urges Maddie to visit a local attraction that keeps Ceto, a captive orca. Maddie objects to the captivity and refuses to spend money at the venue. With an expat named Josh, the two friends later drink and break into Ceto's water park at night.
