Kiddo (2023) on Netflix

Plot summary

Eleven-year-old Lu lives in a children's home, where she talks about her mother, Karina, said to be a Hollywood actress who smells of oranges, does her own stunts and talks with the stars. Karina has long been absent from Lu's life, and the foster mother Lu lives with, Hennie, cares for other children too. Then Karina turns up and carries Lu off in a beat-up sports car, on a drive toward Lu's grandmother in Poland. Karina wants the two of them to be together forever, and Lu gives herself over to a Bonnie-and-Clyde-like fantasy of mother and daughter on the road.
