Plot summary
Hannah Goslar is Anne Frank's childhood friend in Amsterdam, and the years the two girls spend under Nazi restrictions come back through the memories Hannah keeps of them. The two girls want a normal childhood in the city even as the occupation narrows what they are allowed to do. Then Anne disappears along with her family, and Hannah hears that they have gone to neutral Switzerland.
