Plot summary
Ayoub is a mid-teen living in the projects of Amsterdam with his half-sister Demi, whom he is protective of, and their divorced mother Saskia. He loves both his parents but wants something different for Demi and for himself than their mother's loneliness or his father Mo's drug use. He spends his days hanging out with neighborhood friends, blowing up garbage containers and noticing girls. His attention lands on Laura, who also lives in the projects and has no time for him. Laura is the girlfriend of Ronnie, an older neighborhood thug and the brother of Ayoub's friend Franky. Convinced Laura likes tough guys, Ayoub starts taking odd jobs for Kalpa, a local criminal who is eccentric, volatile and flashy, and drives a purple Lamborghini.
