Plot summary

Filmed in the rain forests of Brazil, the documentary follows a female jaguar through the Amazon, where caiman, peccary, pirarucu and anaconda share the river country. Each animal is given a character of its own as the film records the jaguar's struggles to survive among them. A second jaguar, ebony in color, ranges through the same jungle, and fighting between the two gives way to a pairing. The film was the last of a long series of feature-length nature documentaries, and it was one of the few also screened in East Berlin.
