Plot summary
Paglapur was left off the maps drawn when India and Pakistan were divided in 1947. The village held the region's largest mental asylum, and during the upheaval of partition the inmates broke loose, drove out the villagers and set up their own republic. Sixty years later the place still stands apart, without electricity or television, and the government pays it no attention because it appears on no map. Agastya, a scientist developing a device to communicate with aliens, is given a month to produce results by his seniors. A message about his father's illness sends him to Paglapur, the village he came from. There his brother speaks gibberish, a child believes he is a lamppost and neighbors think World War II is still being fought.

- Joker was shot in 3D with 3D cameras, but in June 2012 it was announced it would no longer be in 3D and would come out only in 2D — the reasoning being that Ra.One and Don 2 had already taken up the format and a flop would mean a loss for the whole crew.
