Plot summary
For two thousand years, an order of martial artists has met a race of alien invaders in battle every sixth year, and the invaders have always lost. In a Burmese jungle, American soldier Jake Barnes runs from alien shuriken and falls off a cliff above the sea. A western stranger pulls him out, and two Burmese fishermen take him to a nearby military post. He wakes with no memory of the water or how he got there. Intelligence officer Myra questions him about a comet that appears every six years and a hole that opens in a temple, and truth serums reveal nothing. Keung, a Jiu Jitsu fighter, breaks through the base, beats the guards, recognizes Jake with a special handclasp and brings him out to a band of fighters led by Harrigan.

- In 2021, director Dimitri Logothetis said he would not return to Cyprus to shoot Jiu Jitsu's planned sequels or his next film, Man of War, and he and the producers said they would take legal action against the Cypriot government over almost €8 million in unpaid rebate money the film's investors were owed by contract.
- Producer Chris Economides said Logothetis's departure meant Cyprus lost the $120 million he had agreed to bring for three other films, including Man of War at $37 million and a possible Jiu Jitsu 2 at another $24 million.
