Plot summary
Erin Gilbert is a Columbia professor in line for tenure when she learns that Abby Yates, her estranged friend and former co-author, has republished the book they wrote about their paranormal investigations. Erin agrees to help Abby and engineer Jillian Holtzmann look into a haunting at the Aldridge Mansion if Abby pulls the book. The vlog of their work goes viral and Columbia denies Erin tenure, while Abby and Holtzmann are dismissed from the Higgins Institute. The three set up headquarters above a Chinese restaurant and hire Kevin Beckman as a receptionist. Subway worker Patty Tolan meets a ghost in a terminal built under an old prison and brings the team her city knowledge and a repurposed hearse.
