Plot summary
Stan and Ollie travel the United States as The Original Zoot Suit Band, a two-man musical act. On the road they meet Chester Wright, who claims to hold a pill that turns water into fuel. Chester is a swindler: he secretly replaces water canisters with gasoline so the trick appears to work. He proposes using Stan and Ollie's performances to draw a crowd while he sells the pills in wartime America, where oil is short. Susan Cowan, a choir singer who knows the pair, comes to them for help. Her mother lost her savings to con men, and Susan wants the money recovered.
