Plot summary
The war has left Corporal Chris Merrimette scarred and disillusioned, and now he has a unit to lead. Its next assignment is a supply run to an outpost far from base, near ground the Taliban holds. The route crosses the hostile Helmand province, and there a Navy SEAL named Fox waves the convoy down. Fox enlists the Marines in what he calls an operation of international importance. An Afghan woman famous for defying the Taliban needs to escape the country, and the unit is to take her out of the war-torn country. They have no tanks and no air support.
