Plot summary
Maddie Kelly is a book editor who has spent a year working on the novels of Paul Kennedy, and she keeps her feelings for him to herself. When Paul asks for her help with his next book, he meets her best friend Emma, and the two are drawn to each other. Three months later, Maddie, Emma and Heather fly to Ireland for the wedding at Paul's family home, where Maddie is a bridesmaid. At the airport she argues with James Thomas, a wildlife photographer, over identical bags. During a picnic at a lake she stays behind and finds a wishing bench, and says aloud that she wishes Paul were marrying her. A strong wind blows, and she wakes up as the bride-to-be.
