Plot summary
A boat carrying Cuban refugees toward the United States is met by armed men in Coast Guard uniforms who open fire and seize bags of cocaine hidden aboard. The men are Latin American guerrillas aboard a hijacked Coast Guard vessel, and the real Coast Guard later finds the boat and its murdered crew off Florida. The guerrillas land and trade the drugs for weapons, led by the Soviet operative Mikhail Rostov. Former CIA agent Matt Hunter lives in Florida and turns down his old employers when they ask him to come out of retirement. When Rostov's team destroys Hunter's Everglades home, he agrees to go after them, though Rostov has hundreds of fighters.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Invasion U.S.A. (1985)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Chuck Norris wanted Whoopi Goldberg, who had been an extra in his film A Force of One, to play the female journalist, and she was enthusiastic. Director Joseph Zito overruled him; Norris later wrote that he never used that director again.
- For the scene where terrorists destroy suburban homes with rocket launchers, the filmmakers blew up real houses: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was about to bulldoze the neighborhood for a runway, so they were allowed to destroy the homes on First and Second Avenue in College Park.
- Chuck Norris said he got the idea to make Invasion U.S.A. after reading a Reader's Digest article that said hundreds of terrorists were running loose in the United States.
- Stuntman Max Maxwell was injured while shooting the scene in which the terrorists blow through the door of a garage, and that footage appears in the finished film.
- Invasion U.S.A. was given a $12 million budget, twice what Chuck Norris films had normally gotten before, and a single Everglades sequence cost $2 million.
- The 1986 film Avenging Force was originally intended as a sequel to Invasion U.S.A. until Chuck Norris turned it down; it was made instead as a standalone film starring Michael Dudikoff and sharing only the protagonist's name.
