Plot summary

Egor Tikhonov reads the sports news on television, and an internal shock pushes him to change how he lives. He signs up as a volunteer, sitting in a cancer ward with mothers whose children are being treated, and he joins the Lisa Alert group, which looks for people who have vanished. At the hospital he meets Alyosha, a boy who is a patient there, and Tanya, another volunteer. His wife Maya works beside him at the channel, where Boris is their boss. The hours he gives away are hours he no longer spends at home, and the strain shows: his job is in danger and his marriage is close to breaking. He keeps asking himself whether he has the strength to see this path through.
