Plot summary
Through Angela's friend Linda, Katie meets Angela and Brian, doctors with a four-year-old daughter, Cora, and the two women become friends. Katie has a four-year-old daughter of her own, Maddie, and says only that she left an abusive husband. Brian's mother, Donna, takes against Katie immediately and doubts her story. After a miscarriage leaves her devastated, Angela asks Katie to take a room in the guest house and help with Cora part-time while she recovers. One night Katie slips naked into the pool while Brian watches, and he leaves, uncomfortable. Katie minds Cora while Angela works her shifts at the hospital.

- Faye Dunaway broke her leg a few days before filming Inconceivable, but director Jonathan Baker refused to recast the role, which had been written specifically for her, and rewrote her part so she could perform sitting down; the comeback role was rewritten in 12 hours.
- Director Jonathan Baker spent six months approaching major movie stars for the lead and offering them millions of dollars, but he said they kept asking "Who's the man?"; frustrated, he instead offered Nicolas Cage a supporting role and asked him to support the women.
- Director Jonathan Baker wrote on Facebook that he loved Lindsay Lohan for the part of Katie and fought for her to the very end, but the studio had the final say; Nicky Whelan replaced Lohan in the role.
