Plot summary
Vice President Walker and his staff are aboard Air Force Two over the South Pacific when an electrical storm damages the plane, which goes down in the water off San Pietro, a country near the Solomon Islands. The survivors come ashore on a small offshore island, where gunmen from a guerrilla camp shoot one of them dead. Walker flees into the jungle with Sergeant Major Lynn Delaney of the Secret Service and two reporters. Those shooters are rebels fighting to overthrow San Pietro's dictatorial government, led by Armstrong, an American mercenary. Walker and Delaney, both former Marines, served in Kuwait together during Desert Storm. The rebels seize Walker to hold him for ransom, and Delaney and journalist Sharon Serrano, whose earlier collaboration was tense, set out to reach the camp and free him.
