Plot summary
Nicky is sixteen and lives with her family in Santa Clarita, California, where the household is crazy for Christmas and the over-the-top celebrations each year have made her life miserable. Nicky spends a summer at a special camp for musicians and actors, where she meets Tanner, the boy of her dreams. Tanner decides to travel from Connecticut with his father to visit her for the Christmas holidays. Nicky would rather keep him away from her family's Christmas, so she brings in actors to pose as her mother and father and arranges a holiday dinner in the vacant house beside her own.
