Plot summary
After the Nazi invasions force them out of Poland and France, a group of Polish pilots reaches Britain and joins the Royal Air Force, forming No. 303 Squadron within the Free Polish Air Force. Czech flier Josef František, who refuses a posting as a bomber pilot, invites himself into the new unit. Command falls to John Kent, a Canadian RAF pilot handed an angry and often maligned squadron. The men fly Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft, and they have to work through a language barrier, cultural differences and grief for loved ones lost as the squadron takes part in the Battle of Britain.
