Plot summary
In a 19th-century orchard, beavers gnaw the supports of Jean Kayak's applejack kegs and the whole place goes up. He wakes in the snow, starving, and fails at catching rabbits. Beavers he tries to catch beat him off. He learns to fish using his own bleeding fingers as bait and sells the catch to a merchant, then watches the Master Fur Trapper earn a fortune in pelts. Jean cuts his clothes into rope for snares, though raccoons rob the traps. He trades with an Indian Fur Trapper, and the Furrier makes him clothing from a pelt. The merchant sets his price for the Furrier's hand: hundreds of beavers.

- Hundreds of Beavers was made for $150,000, and the first round of fundraising only paid for the first act, shot in three to four weeks; that footage was shown to other investors, whose money financed the rest of the film.
- The beavers of the title were played by actors in mascot costumes, and the suits were bought online from a Chinese mascot website, with the filmmakers modifying the teeth themselves.
- More than 1,500 visual effects were made in Adobe After Effects for the film, and editing and post-production took two years to complete.
- Sound designer Bobb Barito built the film's sound from wooden objects including kazoos and clapper toys, and distorted the audio in violent scenes because he felt that "violence sounds funniest when it's really distorted".
