Plot summary
Mike Donaldson returns to Mt. Bliss, the town where he grew up, for a ceremony retiring his high school football jersey, and brings Elizabeth Mitchum, his girlfriend. Shelby Mercer, his ex-girlfriend, still believes the two of them are a couple, and she is also fighting the bank over the bowling alley her mother left her. After the game, Mike and Elizabeth visit that bowling alley, where Shelby greets Mike with a kiss and learns he has someone new. Shelby then takes an interest in Elizabeth, warning her that Mike's parents are over-judgmental, and Elizabeth, drunk and anxious about the meeting ahead, decides to sleep off the tequila at a motel instead.
